Do I need a HETAS installer?
+
Building regulations apply to stove installations in Scotland. Fife Stoves is a HETAS registered installer, and we will explain what applies to your home at your free survey.
How long does a stove installation take?
+
Typically 1–3 days on site depending on flue work required. After our free survey we give you a firm timeline.
How much does a wood burning stove installation cost in Scotland?
+
Cost varies significantly depending on the stove chosen, flue setup, hearth and any building work. After a free site survey we provide a clear, itemised written quote. See our installation cost guide for typical price ranges.
Is a survey really free?
+
Yes, free and no obligation. We'll visit your home, measure up, answer your questions, and give you honest advice on what will and won't work. There's no pressure to buy.
What's the difference between a wood burning and multi-fuel stove?
+
A wood burning stove burns wood only. A multi-fuel stove can burn wood, smokeless fuel or peat briquettes. Multi-fuel stoves have a grate and ash pan; wood burners typically don't. See our full comparison guide.
Are modern stoves allowed in smoke control areas?
+
Yes, if the stove is DEFRA exempt (sometimes called 'smoke exempt' or 'SE approved'). Most modern Ecodesign-ready stoves we supply are DEFRA exempt, which means they can legally burn wood in smoke control areas such as central Edinburgh.
What's an Ecodesign stove?
+
Ecodesign is the European standard for new stoves introduced in 2022. Ecodesign-ready stoves are cleaner-burning and more efficient than older models, stove efficiency exceeding 80% and as much as 75% lower particulate emissions vs older stoves. Every new stove we supply is Ecodesign-ready.
Can you service a stove I bought elsewhere?
+
Yes, we service, repair and sweep stoves we didn't originally install. Same honest, HETAS-registered team.
Do you offer finance?
+
Yes, through Ideal4Finance (rated 'Excellent' on Trustpilot). Speak to us for the current rates and options available on your installation. Fife Stoves Ltd is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Ideal Sales Solutions Ltd (FRN 703401).
